Every fall, CAUSE sponsors the CAUSE Political Institute, a day-long power conference. It is the only one of its kind in Southern California to bring together the top APA elected and appointed officials as well as community leaders and members to network and discusses the most pressing political issues facing APAs in California. Past conferences featured panels on Paths to Political Power; Making Asians Count: From the Census to the Media, ballot initiatives and propositions as well as policies and the State of California Politics. The future conferences will feature similarly relevant and interesting topics, including Presidential, Gubernatorial and local elections, as well as an assessment of how the changing media and telecommunications is impacting the ability to reach out to the APA community.
In response to the growing need, on the part of APA officials, community leaders, and the public, for substantive and substantial discussion of important political issues, CAUSE hosts “town halls” to dissect the most salient issues.
Elected Official Meet and Greet
Over the past 15 years, CAUSE has provided the APA community access to prominent political leaders through special Meet and Greet receptions. Guests have included Presidential Candidates John Edwards and Jack Kemp, Governor Gary Locke, and Mayor James Hahn among others.
