JAYDEN CHO TRAN

My name is Jayden Cho Tran (any pronouns).

As a lifelong resident of LA County, I’ve seen my home fail to address an escalating housing crisis, severe economic inequality, and a disorganized bureaucracy that does not work for the people. 

I am a child of immigrants. I experienced homelessness. I survived off of government assistance. I grew up at the mercy of an inefficient county government. I know how the system can destroy lives, but also how it has the power to radically transform our world. This is the power of the County Executive – one that I will use for the people. 

Two decades of public service have uniquely prepared me for this role. As a first-generation student at both UCLA and USC, I utilized my expertise in labor studies and public policy to organize and rally communities with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), before going on to serve as the Director of Operations for the LA County Federation of Labor and a Councilmember for the Monterey Park City Council. Even as my roles evolved, I stayed true to my roots, fighting for our working and immigrant neighbors. 

Today, I am honored to serve as an Assemblymember (AD 49) in our state legislature. For the last six years, my team and I have led the charge in streamlining the approval process for mixed-income and green housing developments, expanding statewide in-language accessibility, and bolstering county-wide transportation.

I know what a life of political power feels like; I have also experienced its absence. I am intimately familiar with the cruciality of not just listening to, but advocating with, communities that have historically been silenced in the course of county politics. LA County is poised for transformation, and we are ready for a leader who will finally take a stand for its people. 

As County Executive, I will:

1. Build BETTER, CHEAPER, and FASTER housing by establishing a Department of Housing Delivery Authority, streamlining permitting, and creating a county-wide modular housing system.

2. FIREPROOF LA, through burying faulty powerlines, strengthening emergency communication networks, and establishing prevention infrastructure.

3. Make a FAST, SAFE, FREE Metro, decreasing bureaucracy, slashing fares, and expanding the Metro HOME team.

GABRIEL MOLINA-KONG

Hello, I am Gabriel Molina-Kong, and I am running for Los Angeles County Executive in 2028!

I’m a born-and-raised Angeleno who grew up in a multigenerational Pasadena household raised by my immigrant parents and my Chinese grandmother. These roots keep me honest about what county government means in practice, from making it easier to apply for county assistance to ensuring our local neighborhood hubs are safe and open. After earning my B.A. in Politics with a Minor in Economics from NYU, I came straight home to graduate with a J.D. from UCLA Law School. LA County shaped who I am, and it is the community I am dedicated to serving. Our community’s strength lies in its diversity and size–but skyrocketing housing costs, car-centric infrastructure, and inaccessible services leave many Angelenos feeling disconnected from and unwelcome in their communities.

My professional career is marked by redefining the point of contact between government and people. As a Public Defender, I saw firsthand how disconnected systems leave vulnerable residents behind. I took that fight to the LA County Rental Housing Oversight Commission to protect tenants. This experience led me to my current position as Head of Consumer & Business Affairs, shielding everyday Angelenos from financial exploitation.

To truly fix the disconnect within our systems, Los Angeles needs leadership with real operational authority. As the City Manager of Pasadena, I ran daily oversight for a city of 140,000 people. When the Eaton Fire threatened our communities, I coordinated emergency shelters through tangible, door-to-door outreach strategies rather than waiting for displaced families to find us. I brought that same urgency to our housing crisis by launching the Pathway Home initiative, which slashed bureaucratic red tape to convert motels into interim housing while pairing encampment resolutions with guaranteed shelter and dedicated case management.

I am running for County Executive because county services should be a right, not a privilege that depends on the neighborhood you live in or the language you speak. Through my work, currently sitting on the Metro Board and across county agencies, I know that our career public servants share a calling to help. My duty is to narrow these gaps through efficiency, deep collaboration, and listening. I will deliver housing for all by advocating to modernize the zoning code, fund service providers as frontline emergency responders, ensure safe and reliable public transit, and establish a centralized language access program across all 38 departments. As county executive, I will bridge county departments to make it easier for residents to live, work, and dream in LA–not be another obstacle in people’s daily lives.
