It has been three years since we last gathered together.
Years that have been filled with adversity and innovation,
challenge and success,
hope and change.

Come celebrate with us as we end the summer with a soirée that will create
an opportunity to catch up,
meet virtual friends in real life,
and show appreciation for all who helped CAUSE grow and adapt these past few years.

Reconnection: A Summer Soirée is CAUSE’s largest fundraiser of the year and the premier Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) event for those interested in politics and community. CAUSE’s annual gala is known for being the largest gathering of AAPI elected officials in California, with more than 100 AAPI federal, state, and local officials from all over California attending each year. This year, CAUSE is expecting 300 guests —all of whom are dedicated to advancing the AAPI community’s participation in the civic and political process.

Portrait of Power, 2022

Photography by Albert Liu

As one of CAUSE’s traditions, the Portrait of Power is a visual representation of the AAPI community’s collective power and CAUSE’s extensive professional network. Thank you to the leaders, within and beyond this photograph, for your continued advocacy for the AAPI community.

Portrait of Future Power

Photography by Albert Liu

For the first time ever, CAUSE presents the Portrait of Future Power. While the Portrait of Power captures current leaders, the Portrait of Future Power brings together youth advocates and empowers them to see themselves as the leaders they are. This portrait was a part of the Intern Reception in partnership with Asian Pacific American Legislative Staff Network (APALS).

hear from past cause speakers

This video, which debuted at the Soirée, highlights words of wisdom from past CAUSE speakers and trainers. When the COVID-19 pandemic was just beginning, CAUSE, like many other organizations, shifted its programming from in-person to virtual and adjusted program scope to fit the needs and capacity of the participants and staff. During this time, CAUSE found creative ways to stay connected and foster connection with its extended network.

The virtual programming offered new opportunities for CAUSE to connect with more people. From 2020- 2022, CAUSE had the most number of speakers and trainers for its programming. CAUSE also had the most geographically diverse cohorts, reaching various AAPI advocates from different localities. This video highlights just some of the words of wisdom and encouragement the speakers and trainers shared with the CAUSE program participants.

Thank you to CAUSE’s 2022 CLA Intern, Carissa Cheng for her work on this video.
