Los Angeles, CA – On Thursday, November 7th, CAUSE held the Leadership Network Fundraiser Asian Pacific American (APA) Showcase at East West Players in Little Tokyo.
The showcase was a fundraiser event for CAUSE Leadership Council & Network (CLC & CLN). The event supported this year's program and reflected the distinct flavor of our millennial impact-makers. The showcase featured musical performances by DANakaDAN and PRISKA, in addition to stand-up comedy sets by Saurabh Kikani, Derek Mio, and Sierra Katow.
Leadership Network members Emmanor Rigonan, Tax Attorney for US Tax Shield, and John Yi, Executive Director of Los Angeles Walks served as the MCs for the evening. They enthusiastically expressed their excitement for the evening and shared how the CAUSE Leadership Network program has impacted them.
Afterwards, The Honorable Thomas Wong, Board President of the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District and Leadership Network member, shared how his experience going through the Political (now Leadership) Institute program contributed to his growth as a leader. He spoke on how the Leadership Network, at its core, is about the simple belief that when we work together and support one another, we have a stronger and more cohesive APA community.
Representing East West Players, Dora Quach, Development Manager of East West Players and Leadership Network member, expressed the importance of the David Henry Hwang theater and its significance as a space for the artistic community.
Next, CAUSE Executive Director Kim Yamasaki spoke on the importance of the Leadership Network and its mission to move the APA community forward through critical connection and collaboration. She shared, “Leadership Network members push the limits of the status quo each and every day. They’re not waiting for change to happen, they’re creating that change now.”
