The Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment (CAUSE) is excited to announce that Larry Chung has joined Southern California Edison as Vice President of Local Public Affairs. A strong supporter of CAUSE, Larry served on the CAUSE Board of Directors for the past two years during executive transitions and necessary pivots during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a member of the Programs Committee, he helped implement new virtual programming in 2020 which included involvement in virtual mentoring created for the CAUSE Leadership Academy for students. Through his involvement, he was able to share knowledge, skills, and experiences that strengthened the organization and supported interns in their professional pursuits.

“Larry’s commitment to the Asian and Pacific Islander communities is evident in his contributions to CAUSE,” says Executive Director, Nancy Yap. “We are looking forward to continuing to partner with him in his new role.”

Prior to joining Southern California Edison, Larry served as The Walt Disney Company’s Director of Global External Affairs and Government Relations. He was responsible for overseeing domestic and international policy and stakeholder engagement strategy across Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products. As Director of Global Affairs & Government Relations, he developed and implemented strategic programs to further Disney’s public policy platforms and drive the segment’s business objectives. Earlier, Larry served as Director, Corporate Social Responsibility and Strategic Initiatives for The Disneyland Resort and was responsible for philanthropic efforts in Orange County and local policy initiatives related to the Resort’s business operations and strategic initiatives. He has worked with local, state, and federal governments and is actively involved in the community serving on non-profits boards including Breathe LA and API’s mobilize. He is currently serving a four-year term on the California State Bar Lawyer Assistance Program Oversight Committee appointed by California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.

“Larry’s accomplishments in the public policy, political, and corporate arenas are the reasons he is able to be such an impactful role model for the emerging leaders in CAUSE’s programs,” says Board Chair, Charlie Woo. “We know his work will continue to inspire Asian and Pacific Islanders to advocate for the communities they represent.”

Thank you Larry for all you have done with CAUSE and looking forward to all you will do in this new chapter of your career!

Sincerely,

The CAUSE team
