Week 8: The Success of Event Planning

This week, the event that some of the staff members and I have been working on finally came together. On Thursday, my assembly office was able to host an event called “Outstanding Educators Award” in appreciation of all teachers, especially within Assembly District 49 for doing an amazing job and teaching our future generations to become the next leaders. Despite the many teachers within the field, my team leaders have come together and selected seventeen recipients for the Educators Award of Assembly District 49.

The day before the Outstanding Educators Award was one of the most stressful moments as everything needed to come together before the event started tomorrow. Staff members were working hard to ensure we had everything we needed to make this event possible. Throughout the day I was assigned to design the presentation of the event. This included the technical materials such as the slides and music flow of the presentation. Another item that I also worked on was designing the name tags of the recipients and very important people who are also attending in support of the recipients. Despite that this seemed to be a small task, there were so many technical issues I encountered because I had to ensure the sizes and spaces of the name tags in order to print them out perfectly. Another issue I encountered was the amount of time I had to finish this task for the reason that the name tags we ordered were being delivered in the afternoon. Seeking to finish this task, I was unable to make any design until I figured out the size of our name tags. Despite the fact that I had no clue about the name tag sizes, I made an attempt to start the name tag designs and make adjustments as soon as the name tags arrived.

It was finally the day of the event, and we made a successful accomplishment. Throughout this event planning, I learned so much even though I have had experience in event planning. In the beginning, I thought that it would be easy to just plan events. After approaching the day of the event, I felt as if there were so many things I didn’t think would be needed. I learned how to organize an event and some tactics to utilize when doing event planning.
