SESSION #6: DATA DISAGGREGATION

Los Angeles, CA -- On Wednesday, March 30, CAUSE held the sixth session of the 2022 CAUSE Leadership Institute virtually on Zoom. 

Session six focused on Data Disaggregation and featured Andrew Murphy, Co-Director of the Los Angeles Unified School District API Equity Steering Committee, and Richard Calvin Chang, Data Analytics Director of the NHPI Data Policy Lab at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. The speakers provided powerful data points relating to Asian and Pacific Islander populations regarding health and education, the importance of advocating for data disaggregation, and the potential benefit for communities in utilizing data for policy. The panel emphasized the impact disaggregated data has in understanding unique APA experiences and in enacting change.

The CAUSE Leadership Institute (CLI), is a certificate program that prepares and equips mid-career professionals with the tools, skills, and network to lead and advocate for the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. Co-founded by CAUSE and USC Dornsife’s Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics to ensure a pipeline of political and civic leadership for the APA community, CLI brings together aspiring APA community leaders with seasoned political professionals, civic leaders, and issues experts to discuss policy, civic engagement, and community leadership.
