This year, 94 of Los Angeles’ 99 Neighborhood Councils are holding elections this season between November 2022 and June 2023. Voting in all NC elections this season will be hybrid meaning In-Person and Vote-By-Mail. Make your voice heard in these local elections! Below, find voter resources, election timelines, and more.

Neighborhood Councils (NC) are the closest form of government to the people. As part of Los Angeles City government, the 99 NCs are advisory bodies with annual budgets funded by taxpayer dollars. As of 2021, each NC has a budget of $32,000/year. Each NC represents about 40,000 people.

VOTE-BY-MAIL

To receive a Vote-By-Mail ballot, you must register within the allotted time per your region. Vote-By-Mail ballot requests close 19 before the designated Election Day per Neighborhood Council. Please make sure to check your Neighborhood Council timeline for the exact dates.

  1. Create & Activate your Angeleno Account – Sign up for an Angeleno Account with an email and create a password

    1. https://clerkappsele.lacity.org/NCElection/voter/login 

  2. Create a new Voter Application

  3. Input your Voter Info

    • Title

    • First Name

    • Middle Name

    • Last Name

    • Date of Birth

    • Phone Number (Optional)

    • Email

    • Contact Preference

  4. Input Election Info

    1. Select a Neighborhood Council

    2. Stakeholder Types:

      1. LIVE If you live in the NC, write your complete address and check if you own or rent; are unhoused (add cross streets if no address). 

      2. WORK If you work or own a business in the NC, write your organization name; the complete address; and check if you are an employee, owner or other. 

      3. OWN If you own real property in the NC, write the complete address and check if the property is residential, business property or other. 

      4. COMMUNITY INTEREST If you have a community interest in the NC, write the organization name and complete address.

  5. Upload any documentation needed

    1. Acceptable Forms of Documentation per Stakeholder Category

    2. If you are a Community Interest, one of the documentation needed is a letter from the organization.

  6. Submit

  7. Wait for approval or additional requests for more documentation

  8. Once you receive your VBM Ballot, fill it out, and mail it by designated Election Day per Neighborhood Council

 

VOTE IN PERSON

  • Determine the designated Polling Location and hours

  • Bring all necessary Identification documents for Same-Day voter registration

  • You can drop off your Vote-By-Mail Ballot in person

    • At the designated Polling Location per Neighborhood Council on the designated Election Day

    • At the Office of the City Clerk Main Office (555 Ramirez St. Space 300 Los Angeles, CA 90012) during regular business hours 8:00am - 5:00pm  from Monday - Friday, leading up the designated NC Election Day.
