Pasadena, CA – On Friday, August 12, 2016, CAUSE held the Leadership Academy Graduation at the KPCC Crawford Family Forum. The event commemorated the eleven interns’ successful completion of the program.
Midway through the CAUSE Leadership Academy, CAUSE hosts the Capitol Conference to provide the interns with a more comprehensive view of the political system in Washington, DC.
About two months ago I randomly received an email in regards to the G20 Youth Summit, otherwise known as the Y20. The email was inviting me to be part of the delegation that would travel to China to represent the United States in this conference of youth diplomacy.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” That is the motto that best describes my week. Before coming to Washington, DC with the CAUSE Leadership Academy, one of my least favorite things was networking.
“A zip code should not determine a child’s future.” This statement is printed on a number of HUD brochures and flyers and it particularly stood out to me because of the relevance it has in our current society.
What does it mean to be Asian American? What does it mean to be an Asian in America? These questions guided the conversations, discussions, and points of inquiry we explored during our retreat and our academy kickoff this week.
