LOS ANGELES, CA — The Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party returns on Saturday, October 31, 2026, celebrating its 10th year as one of Little Tokyo's signature annual traditions, made possible through collaboration between nonprofits, family owned businesses, artists, and community leaders.

What began in 2017 as a shared effort to create a distinctly Little Tokyo Halloween experience has grown into one of the neighborhood's signature annual traditions. Each year, the Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party welcomes thousands of guests for an evening of music, creativity, costumes, and community while celebrating the people, businesses, artists, makers, and organizations that make Little Tokyo unique.

Today, Haunted Little Tokyo is convened by the Little Tokyo Community Council and organized through the Little Tokyo Ghost Club, a collaborative partnership including the Little Tokyo Community Council, the Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment (CAUSE), Café Dulce, Yoboseyo! Superette, and Wolf & Crane. Together, the partners coordinate programming, sponsorships, volunteers, logistics, and event operations that make Haunted Little Tokyo possible each year.

Little Tokyo has long been shaped by generations of community organizations, cultural institutions, and family owned businesses working together to preserve and strengthen the neighborhood. Haunted Little Tokyo reflects that same spirit of collaboration, creating experiences that celebrate Little Tokyo's creativity while inviting new audiences to discover and support the people, businesses, and organizations that make the neighborhood unique.

Drawing inspiration from Japanese horror, anime, and cosplay culture, the Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party has developed an identity unlike any other Halloween celebration in Los Angeles. One of its signature traditions is the annual costume contest, where participants showcase elaborate costumes inspired by horror, anime, film, and popular culture. Each year, the contest highlights the creativity and craftsmanship of a community where costume design and artistic expression are part of Little Tokyo's cultural fabric.

"When we first imagined Haunted Little Tokyo, we weren't trying to build a tradition. We wanted to create a Halloween experience that felt true to Little Tokyo and invited people to experience the neighborhood in a different way. Ten years later, what has kept Haunted Little Tokyo going isn't any single organization. It's the relationships we've built with one another and the willingness of so many people to keep showing up for our neighborhood year after year." — James Choi, Owner of Café Dulce and Yoboseyo! Superette, and founding member of Haunted Little Tokyo

The relationships that make Haunted Little Tokyo possible are its greatest legacy. Over the past decade, those same partnerships have supported neighborhood initiatives, strengthened local businesses, responded to moments of community need, and created new opportunities for people to experience and invest in Little Tokyo throughout the year.
